Tommy Crane is a NY based drummer, producer, and composer. His most recent project Preservation is an audiovisual collaboration with filmmaker Tracy Maurice. The piece was performed live with Colin Killalea (Albert Hammond Jr.) and Eliot Krimsky (Luke Temple, Glass Ghost) and premiered at Lincoln Center in 2017. He is also leader of the Brooklyn based band, Late Bloomer. The band draws from krautrock , ambient , as well as jazz influences and features 4AD artist David Moore (Bing and Ruth), Greg Chudzik (Steve Reich/Talea Ensemble) and Simon Jermyn (Jim Black Trio). Crane’s work as a drummer runs the gamut from contemporary jazz to ambient post rock. Recently he has performed and recorded internationally with such artists as Thus Owls, Port St Willow, Half Waif , Juliana Daugherty, Bing and Ruth, Richard Reed Parry , Melissa Aldana , Logan Richardson, Greg Osby, Ambrose Akinmusire, and The Mingus Big Band. He is currently a core member of Aaron Parks: Little Big, Concurrence (featuring Paul Horton of Alabama Shakes), and Wood River. Crane has contributed original compositions to various WNYC podcasts including NPR’s 'Death, Sex, and Money', and ‘Vine Pair”. He is also a Sunhouse Artist and is currently teaching at the Siena Jazz Institute.
